The Natalie & Alice Fish Story

We are the Fishes. In 2011 two of our five children; Natalie and Alice were diagnosed with a rare gene disfunction called Leaky SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency). Their condition is so rare that only two cases are reported in the U.S. each year. Both girls have endured much, and have spent most of their young lives in and out of hospitals due to common illnesess a healthy immune system would overcome. The required treatment for our girls is a bone marrow transplant.
Although the new marrow could mean a normal life for them, it will be a long and arduous road. This blog is to share our experience as parents and the courage of our children.

Meds and Bed

Administering the meds this past week seems to have been harder because the girls are tiring of the morning and night schedule. We are a bit tired tonight, but got a quick clip of the girls going to bed and saying goodnight.

  1. So bitter sweet to have to watch your adorable daughter go through her BMT but that a cure is in sight!! A little one should not have to carry all that tubing/IV's to bed, but pure joy on her face as she finds her pants!!!

  2. Charlie loved seeing Alice. I can't believe she can carry all those meds by herself. They both are such amazing girls.

  3. Its so sad how much your sweet little girls have to go thru! Watching Alice carry her medicine to her bed just makes me so sad for them. Every time we are at the store & see the primary childrens donation jars with Alice's picture my 2 year old goes "Mom look its Alice. Shes so pretty" I love all your updates & continue to pray for your sweet family.
