The Natalie & Alice Fish Story

We are the Fishes. In 2011 two of our five children; Natalie and Alice were diagnosed with a rare gene disfunction called Leaky SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency). Their condition is so rare that only two cases are reported in the U.S. each year. Both girls have endured much, and have spent most of their young lives in and out of hospitals due to common illnesess a healthy immune system would overcome. The required treatment for our girls is a bone marrow transplant.
Although the new marrow could mean a normal life for them, it will be a long and arduous road. This blog is to share our experience as parents and the courage of our children.

The Color Festival

Natalie wasn't feeling well today, and was supposed to go on this outing with Matthew and I to the color festival. We made a video anyway so she could see what she has to look forward to next year. If you haven't been to this, it is worth your time to go.

  1. I have chronic candida and have been doing lots of research. Check out http://www.thecandidadiet.com/candidasymptoms.htm. Some of the symptoms you have said the girls have are symptoms of Candida. With all the antibiotics and steroids they have been on, I am sure that they have some form of it. Hearing loss is even a symptom of it. Most Western doctors don't catch it or give it much credit. There is a clinic in spanish fork call Health Rejuvenation intstitute. After going to 6 other doctors for the last 4 years with no relief or answers, they were finally able to diagnois and help me. The fix is a gluten free, sugar free, dairy free diet. Probiotics, and l-glutamine, and a candida cleanse. I would see them to see how much of the supplements to give to children. I am sure that is why Natalie has a reaction to gluten. Just thought you might be interested. Hope things keep going well.
